Great site! The Army needs help from the SASC to be successful. Senior leaders should take action to develop the training helicopter requirement and coordinate with the SASC and congress for funding. The funding planning cycle is too short. Some senior officers move on to another assignment and are not personally invested in the outcome of their decisions. They are satisfied with the short-term fix. Long term, Operations, Maintenance and Sustainment cost planning needs improvement. Good luck with the campaign!
Hey Cobra, in 2015 I heard about the Lakota aircraft transfer to Fort Rucker for primary training and thought this is a big mistake. Looks like the chickens came home to roost. The taxpayers are paying the bill, or is this deficit spending and the feds borrowing more money to fund this nonsense? Whatever this is, it’s screwed up big time. Have heard 50% of TRADOC’s annual budget goes to Fort Rucker. The Army’s got to fix the problem, first step is to admit there is one. The next step is to ask for help, they clearly need it! $14 million a month wasted, that’s crazy and it’s got to stop! Don’t give up, keep the campaign going!
Cobra and FCP your spot on. When this story hits the AP it’s going to be big! Lots of questions going to be asked. The Army and the SASC better have some good answers. These types of wasteful decisions would never happen in the commercial market. A civilian flight school would not survive using a twin engine aircraft for initial training. The students would not show up because it’s too expensive. The Army gets away with it because their spending other peoples money. Senior leaders need to wise up an be good stewards of tax payer funds. Kudos to the team for creating this site, keep up the good work!
