The calculations below were developed from the direct operating costs obtained from the manufacturers and the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Department of Defense (DoD) Fixed Wing and Helicopter Reimbursement Rates.
The consumer price index (CPI) / inflation rate is set at 5% per year due to the increasing cost of fuel.
The projected savings using a lower cost training helicopter in year 5 is $858 million to $ 1 billion, and over $2 billion in 10 years, $3 billion in 15 years and $5 billion in 20 years.
The monthly savings is $14 million training 1,000 students during the first year of operation using the lower cost helicopter. The monthly savings increases in subsequent years.
