The single engine aircraft shown below are available and are more effective for training student pilots.

The Army needs to develop a training helicopter requirement, then conduct a competitive acquisition. Congressional support is needed for procurement funding.

The projected cost savings from using a lower cost helicopter can be leveraged to justify the acquisition. The procurement of new aircraft can be offset with direct operating cost savings within two years. The Direct Operating Cost (DOC) of the UH-72A is estimated at $2,434 per hour.
